Michael A. Makinen

Michael Makinen serves as the Chief Operating Officer of MPI and is responsible for the operations of the company’s entire portfolio.

Mr. Makinen guides and directs the day-to-day functions of the MPI operating units; Leasing, Marketing, Property Management and Asset Management and establishes forward-looking strategic plans for the portfolio of properties. During his tenure at MPI, Mr. Makinen served as the Senior Vice President of Asset Management where he made significant contributions to the company’s award-winning Town Center portfolio.

Mr. Makinen has over twenty years of experience in the operations, development, construction, and asset management of retail and commercial real estate. His strategic accomplishments have included consistent revenue and net asset value growth. Mr. Makinen began his real estate career as a Partner and Executive Vice President for Thompson Associates, a real estate consulting firm specializing in strategic planning for retail clients.  During his career, Mr. Makinen held positions as the Vice President of Real Estate and Development with several major retailers.

Mr. Makinen received a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University and a Master's Degree from Indiana University.
